About
Cherry Preschool Summer Camp includes outdoor play at Penny Park and Cherry’s Playlot, water play with sprinklers, bubbles, sand box fun, messy art, riding toys, and time in a creative playhouse. Campers take part in large motor and creative movement activities, barnyard-themed movement games, nature-inspired crafts, hands-on snack making, fizzy and volcano-themed science experiments, colorful and themed snacks, role-play, creative games, building challenges, active “fossil” hunts, messy prehistoric art projects, messy “site” play, and creative costume crafts with “hero training” games and special snacks fit for a superhero.
• Ages: 3–5 years old (open to children 3 by Sept 1 through Kindergarten)
• Schedule: Monday through Thursday with an option to add select Fridays, from June 15 to July 23, 9:00AM to 12:00PM, with weekly sessions from Week 1 (June 15–18) through Week 6 (July 20–23)
• Price: Week 1–6 cost $228 per week; optional Fridays (June 26, July 3, July 11, July 17) cost $57 per day; Early Drop Off (8:30–9:00AM, Monday–Friday) costs $9.50 per day; Lunch and More Fun! (12:00–2:00PM, Monday–Friday) costs $38 per day
Cherry Preschool Summer Camp offers extended day and week options, including Early Drop Off and the Lunch and More Fun! program. Each camp group has a lead teacher and an assistant teacher, with high school students serving as Inclusion Counselors and middle school students serving as Junior Counselors. Special weekly themes are built around activities such as barnyard-themed movement games, nature-inspired crafts, volcano-themed science experiments, and superhero-themed games and snacks.
Cherry Preschool is an independent, parent-governed, not-for-profit, non-sectarian preschool open to all children in the community and admits students of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin, without discrimination in its educational policies, admission policies, financial aid program, or other school-administered programs. The camp leadership team includes Executive Director Sarah Schoonyoung, Assistant Director and Camp Director Lynn Fiedler, Child Development and Inclusion Director Lindsey Underway, Financial Operations staff member Rim Lahlou, and Development Director Marci Rubin. Cherry Preschool states that it provides developmental, play-based early childhood education programs for children aged 2 to 5, celebrates diversity, and offers an Inclusion Program with dedicated inclusion aides for children who require additional support in the classroom. The school describes itself as a community of educators and parents who donate time, energy, and talent, and notes that Cherry teachers plan open-ended, play-based activities and experiences and provide children opportunities to interact with materials and construct knowledge about their world.
