Coaching methods and objectives reinforce life lessons that apply in and out of the pool. Flying Fish Aquatics is part of a mission-based not-for-profit organization that believes every child should learn to swim and conducts outreach to community members whose children might not otherwise have that opportunity. The program provides scholarship opportunities to give children access to life-saving skills and lifelong health, confidence building, and personal growth opportunities. YWCA Evanston/North Shore’s roots stretch back to 1931 and the organization has a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator. The Flying Fish Swim Team raises close to $100,000 each year to support the programs and services of YWCA Evanston/North Shore. YWCA Evanston/North Shore is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. Erin Venable serves as VP Marketing and Communications. One parent described the organization by saying, “This is an organization that truly meets people where they are in their lives, whether it’s our swim program or our domestic violence program. When you walk in the door, we say ‘How can we accompany you? What can we do to help you move forward?’”
