Ballet Folklorico Sones Mexicanos offers Mexican folkloric dance classes, including beginner, intermediate, and advanced performing classes. The program includes Folklorico Level 1 youth classes, Folklorico Level 2 for youth ages 7–11, Folklorico Level 2 for young adults, Folklorico Advanced Adults in a company performing group, and Adults Level 1 classes. • Schedule: New 12-week session begins April 20, 2026, with classes meeting two times per week and a total of 22 classes per session; in-person registration and info sessions are offered on Friday April 10, 2026 from 6:00 pm–8:00 pm and Saturday April 18, 2026 from 10:00 am–12:00 pm
• Price: $300 session fee for a 12-week session, with a $280 beginner dancer promotion
Ballet Folklorico Sones Mexicanos was founded at the end of 2010. The founder and director is Claudia Alejandra Gutierrez. The mission of Ballet Folklorico Sones Mexicanos is to create a safe, motivating, and instructional space for the community to learn and continue traditions of Mexican folklore through dance.
Classes are offered to aspiring dancers with and without experience, and new students are welcomed to preview one class prior to the cutoff date of 10/01/2024. Practice skirts and folklorico shoes are required for classes, and a guide for purchase and measurements is provided at registration, with @Folkloryco (www.folkloryco.com) listed as the preferred vendor for skirts. Safety precautions for classes include limited class sizes, cleaning and sanitizing of public areas, distance guidelines, a no outside visitors policy, optional use of face masks, availability of hand sanitizer, and limited contact with dancers, and the program follows CDC guidelines for all classes and events. There are no refunds on registration fees once classes have begun.
Classes are taught by three teachers with more than 25 years of combined experience who have continued their training to bring new repertoire. Ballet Folklorico Sones Mexicanos is a year-round performing group at local and international levels, with performances in Lloret de Mar, Spain in October 2023, Disney Performing Arts in Florida and Orlando, and upcoming performances in Italy and Mexico.
