About

Galena ARC Summer Camp includes fun weekly themes with a variety of planned activities at the ARC, along with indoor activities in the air-conditioned gymnasium and the dance/fitness room. Camp days also include field trips, play at the park, and three afternoons per week at the Galena Public Pool. Special lunches are brought into the ARC, and each child must bring a sack lunch from home.

• Ages: 3–12 years old
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with drop off from 7:00–9:00 a.m.

The program’s leadership includes Child Care Director Sonya Bussan, and the teachers are described as highly qualified, caring individuals. The mission of Galena ARC Summer Camp is to promote individual independence and cooperation, develop community cooperation in programs and activities that include arts/crafts, sports, and recreation for all ages, and create a friendly, respectful social environment based on self esteem, discipline, fairness, equality, and responsibility for the health, safety, and welfare of all, including family members, groups, and visitors. The organization states that together with volunteers and donors, the ARC has been the hub of the community, providing Galena with 50 years of art, sports, fitness, child care, and early education, and improving the lives of children and adults in the community. Families can choose every week of camp or only the weekly themes that interest their child, and parents can choose how many days per week their child attends. Space is limited and registrations are taken on a first come, first serve basis, and all registration forms and State of Illinois forms must be filled out and turned in for registration to be complete.
