Bridge Communities Tutoring Program

Bridge Communities Tutoring Program offers one-to-one tutoring for school-age children. Students meet with experienced tutors once or twice each week for one hour each session during the school year.

Programs

• Tutoring — school-age children · once or twice weekly throughout the school year · Experienced tutors provide one-to-one tutoring. Students meet with their tutors once or twice each week, for one hour each session. Tutors are needed with tutoring experience or certified teachers.

• Mentoring — families · Volunteer mentors sponsor and assist client families as they work to develop life-skills necessary for self-sufficiency.
• Case Management — families · Professional case managers assist mentors and client families in accessing resources and developing short-term and long-term program goals.
• Housing / Transitional Housing Program — families experiencing homelessness in DuPage County · Bridge Communities provides a transitional housing program for families experiencing homelessness.
• Employment & Adult Education — client families · Employment team assists client families in securing and maintaining employment; services include job readiness training, resume writing, educational coaching, and mock interviewing.
• Family Wellness — client families · Family wellness services include nutrition counseling, a gardening program, and peer-to-peer support workshops.
• Counseling Resources — parents and children · Bridge partners with community-based psychological services for short- or long-term counseling.
• Stability Program — client families with more complex needs · Clients receive more direct case management and supportive services before transferring into the Transitional Housing Program.

Bridge Communities says its mission is to partner with families and their children by providing stable housing and transformational support so they are empowered to overcome homelessness and thrive for generations to come. It also partners with dozens of local churches, community groups, and businesses, as well as local faith-based and community action groups and for-profit and non-profit organizations.

• Car Donations — families in the Transitional Housing Program · Bridge solicits auto donations to help families in need of reliable transportation.

The program serves children who have experienced homelessness, and many may have experienced domestic violence or attended many different schools. Students meet with tutors once or twice each week, for one hour each session.
