Bridge Communities Tutoring Program
Bridge Communities, 500 East Roosevelt, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137
About
Bridge Communities Tutoring Program offers one-to-one tutoring for high-risk students. All children in the program have experienced homelessness, and many may have experienced domestic violence or attended many different schools. Most children in the program have not had the benefit of a stable home to motivate them to achieve in school, and the program’s goal is to support academic success and help parents understand the educational process and support their children’s efforts in school.
• Schedule: Students meet with their tutors once or twice each week, for one hour each session.
Bridge Communities is in need of certified teachers and volunteers with tutoring experience. The mission of Bridge Communities is to partner with families and their children, providing stable housing and transformational support so they are empowered to overcome homelessness and thrive for generations to come. Bridge Communities works in partnership with local faith-based and community action groups in providing transitional housing to families that live and work in DuPage County, and partners with dozens of for-profit businesses and non-profit organizations to create a system that encourages self-sufficiency, long-term change, and compassionate care. Bridge Communities has been ranked as a top-tier charity by Charity Navigator, is verified by Impact Genome Registry, has earned Candid's Platinum Seal of Transparency, and has earned the distinction of a 4-Star charity by Charity Navigator in multiple years. Testimonials about the organization include, “Bridge Communities is a safe place to land” and “Bridge Communities prepared me for a better life.”
