Summer Theatre Fundraiser & Enrichment Program
D41 Kids Foundation, 793 N. Main Street, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137
About
The Summer Theatre Fundraiser & Enrichment Program focuses on acting, singing, dancing, and stage presence. It is a no-cut theater enrichment program where no experience is required, and productions have included The Lion King (2022), Moana Jr. (2023), Beauty and the Beast (2024), and Seussical (2025). Each show has helped raise significant funds to support District 41 students and their families, and the theatre program has given 75 children the chance to take the stage, build confidence, and discover the power of teamwork.
• Ages: Kindergarten–8th grade
The program is hosted by the D41 Kids Foundation as its largest fundraiser and is open to all District 41 students from kindergarten through 8th grade. Students develop skills in acting, singing, dancing, and stage presence, and they learn teamwork, responsibility, and creative problem-solving while they participate. Children strengthen their abilities, build confidence, and form new friendships through their involvement in the productions. The program is led by local director Gina Wood. The D41 Kids Foundation supported 4 families through difficult times and made a $20,000 donation to upgrade the Hadley sound system and a $15,000 investment to support continued mental health resources for families. The D41 Kids Foundation’s mission is to strengthen public education in D41 through adaptive partnerships, strategic investments, and advocacy for initiatives that prioritize equity and prepare students to be global citizens. The foundation envisions a district guided by evidence that fosters inclusivity, diversity, and equity to fully equip students for a dynamic world, fortified by unwavering community support. It supports and enhances high-impact initiatives that align with its mission, fosters active community engagement through collaboration, promotes equity and reduces disparities in educational outcomes by focusing on resources, opportunities, and support for underserved and marginalized student populations, cultivates global citizenship by exposing students to the knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to be engaged, responsible, and adaptive global citizens, and strives for long-term sustainability by emphasizing the importance of securing long-term financial sustainability to ensure continuous support for educational programs and initiatives.
