Hard Road Theatre youth musical programs

Hard Road Theatre youth musical programs are part of Hard Road Theatre Productions, which has produced at least one youth musical each year since 2004. Student participation increased enough that in 2012 Hard Road Theatre began producing two youth productions most summers. Tickets to Seussical Jr. are on sale Friday, May 29th.

Hard Road Theatre Productions began in 2001, when three local community thespians started a community theatre group in Highland and presented their first performance of Steel Magnolias on September 21, 2001. One of the tenets that the founding members envisioned was creating educational opportunities in the theatrical arts for adults and children in Highland and the surrounding communities, with annual theater programming and philanthropic outreach efforts focused on collaboration and partnership with local school administration, music and theater departments, and the overall community. Hard Road Theatre has been Highland's premier community theatre group for the last 20 years.

Hard Road has given money to the community for the improvement of theater in Highland, including a donation of $50,000 toward the school auditorium air-conditioning project and helping to upgrade lighting and sound equipment at the schools. Hard Road purchased a new lighting system at the Elementary Auditorium in 2015 and paid to have the stage floor at the Elementary Auditorium refinished in 2017. Hard Road has donated over $6000 to the HACSM Food Pantry and has sponsored events for the Highland PTO and Relay for Life.
