Veronica Porter leads Ask Aunt V Cooking and Garden Classes and is described as a third generation organic farmer, chef, culinary instructor, and food educator for home and garden. Veronica is a Licensed Chef and holds a Master’s of Organic Urban Farming and Gardening. The program states, “My passion is to create community in all I do, from growing a garden, to preparing a meal, to educating, gathering, and enjoying life's harvest.” Proceeds from every sale are used to support the community by growing organic community gardens in food deserts and giving them back to the neighborhood, feeding the homeless with fresh, organic produce, providing opportunities for veterans with PTSD/TBI and young men and women with hidden disabilities, and sponsoring private events for fundraising needs for local organizations throughout the Chicago metropolitan area. The program describes its focus with phrases such as “From the garden to the table, From the classroom to the community,” “Great cooking isn't about recipes, it is about technique,” “Learn fundamental skills for a lifetime of great cooking,” and “Good food starts with good ingredients.”
