Outdoor Education Programs at Camp Ondessonk include hiking scenic trails, horseback riding through dense forests, swimming in a lake, archery, rock climbing, canoeing, group challenge activities, a high ropes course, camping, and biking. All of these activities take place within the camp’s broader outdoor education offerings for school and youth groups during the fall, winter, and spring.

• Price: Camper fees are extremely competitive and unlike many other summer camps, Ondessonk does not charge additional fees for horseback riding or senior camper electives.
Since 1959, Camp Ondessonk has provided children and children-at-heart the opportunity to experience firsthand the beauty of God’s creation. Its summer camp programs are guided by Catholic traditions and teachings, and people of all faiths are encouraged and welcome to enjoy Camp Ondessonk. Camp Ondessonk is owned and operated by the Catholic Diocese of Belleville, in Illinois. Camp Ondessonk serves campers from across Indiana, including Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Evansville, South Bend, Bloomington, and all of Indiana, and offers a variety of special interest weekends and open houses, as well as conference and retreat facilities.
One camper, Eva, shared that she learned it was okay to be herself at Camp Ondessonk and that she learned to respect nature. A parent, Kim Kinnaman, described how her 11-year-old daughter showed increased confidence and independence after a week at camp. Another camper, Karma, described being nervous at first but then not wanting to leave, and said that the activities and opportunities at Camp Ondessonk made her a better Christian and brought her closer to God.
