Founded in 1878, the Peoria Art Guild has been dedicated for over 145 years to “bringing art to the community and the community to art,” and in 2025 it will celebrate its 63rd Anniversary of hosting the Peoria Fine Art Fair. The organization presents a diverse array of fine and contemporary art and states that it strives to inspire and educate all levels of art enthusiasts through the Fine Art Fair, exhibitions, outreach, and collaborative art initiatives. As a visual arts leader, it states that it takes pride in efforts to educate young artists, showcase art diversity, exhibit multidisciplinary contemporary art, and promote art throughout the community. The Peoria Art Guild has a non-discrimination policy that states it does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, and that it is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for staff, volunteers, artists, students, and clients.

The Peoria Art Guild is supported by the Illinois Arts Council Agency and the National Endowment for the Arts. Its community involvement includes exhibitions, outreach and collaborative art initiatives, programs like “Healing Through the Arts” that promote mental well-being, free workshops for underserved populations, and public art programs like Sculpture Walk Peoria with rotating displays of contemporary sculptures accessible to the public. Exhibitions are free and open to the public during open hours, and the main building is the renovated Foster Arts Building, whose first floor includes the “Main Gallery” and “Project Space” with new exhibitions and events each month. The Peoria Fine Art Fair, hosted by the Peoria Art Guild, is a juried art fair featuring 130 local, national, and international artists from across the United States and numerous countries around the world.

The Peoria Art Guild notes that parking in Downtown Peoria is limited to two hours Monday–Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm in metered street spots or public lots, and that parking is free anywhere after 5:00pm Monday–Friday and on weekends. In 2005, the Peoria Art Guild was the only venue in the Midwest to exhibit 18 extra-large Cibachrome photographs from Andres Serrano’s AMERICA, and in 2004 it hosted 18 paintings and five sculptures from the private collection of Marsha S. Glazer, which was considered among the top 100 private art collections at that time.
