Main Street Dance offers classes in Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, and AcroDance. Students may also participate in the Main Street Dance Company, which includes performing opportunities and competition experience.
• Schedule: The MSD student showcase is held each year in early June at the Peotone High School Auditorium, with details made available on or before May 1, and Company auditions are held in June.
• Price: All-inclusive rates; tuition for classes and the performance group include costume fees, registration and performance fees, entry fees (where applicable), and one Showcase digital download per student.
Main Street Dance provides training to recreational through pre-professional students through a defined curriculum that incorporates technique and performance opportunities. The program offers professional level training for young students with professional aspirations to build a strong foundation of technical proficiency and performance expertise. Dance vocabulary and stage direction are an integral part of the training program, and a full year curriculum is used to support a higher level of technique. Pre-pointe through advanced pointe training focuses on proper turnout, strength, and injury prevention.
Artistic Directors and instructors hold BFA degrees in Dance Performance and Theater, and the faculty has a stated reputation for providing exceptional dance technique. The Main Street Dance Company is described as an accomplished group of dancers who have been recognized for their performances, strong technique, and standout choreography, and this group attends 4–6 conventions or competitions each year. Summer enrollment is mandatory for Company members, and Company information packets for the following year are available at the front desk by May 1. Tickets for the MSD student showcase are sold online through a link on the Main Street Dance Facebook page.
MSD may accept late enrollment for new students based on class openings and instructor recommendation, and late placement may be available for new students. The studio describes a family atmosphere, with the studio environment and curriculum intended to build confidence and provide a memorable, positive, and rewarding experience inside and outside the classroom. Main Street Dance has an on-site boutique that carries Bloch, Mirella, and Capezio leotards, tights, ballet skirts, dance bags, Bloch dance shoes, warm-ups, gifts, competition jewelry, pointe shoe accessories, and more.
