City of Robinson Parks and Recreation Youth Sports & Aquatics Programs include soccer, basketball, T-ball, golf, tennis, baseball, softball, fishing, sledding, and various swimming activities. The aquatics options include swimming parties, private swim lessons, and Swim Clinic opportunities at the Robinson City Pool, which has a main pool, a wading pool, and a 125 foot long water slide.
• Ages: 5–15 years old
• Schedule: Robinson City Park is open from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM, and the Robinson Municipal Swimming Pool is open from 12:30 PM to 6:45 PM, with pool rental times available from 10:00 AM to 12:00 NOON and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM; overnight camping is available for a limit of three nights per stay, and private swim lessons are 30 minutes per visit.
• Price: Overnight camping at Robinson City Park is $25.00 per day; Robinson Municipal Swimming Pool admission is $4.00 per person; pool rental from 10:00 AM to 12:00 NOON is $200.00 and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM is $200.00; private swim lessons are $10.00 per 30 minute visit; Deer Run Mary Heath Memorial Golf Course daily fees are $8.00 all day, $5.00 for juniors 15 and under and seniors 60 and over, with season passes at $60.00 for seniors 60 and over, $100.00 for one person, and $225.00 for a family of five with each additional person $50.00.
The Parks and Recreation Department is a department within the municipality of Robinson, and its activities and programs along with parks are designed to enhance the leisure enjoyment of all residents within the community and surrounding area. The City of Robinson Parks and Recreation Department was formed on April 1, 1976 by the Robinson City Council, the City Pool opened in 1956, Deer Run Mary Heath Memorial Golf Course and Washington Park Lake were built in 1996, and the Sled Hill was built in the fall of 2002. The Park Superintendent is Tyson Murray, and there is a welcome from Mayor Mike Shimer connected to the department’s information.
Washington Park Lake was stocked by the South Eastern Illinois Sportsman’s Club, the Nature Trail is a combined project funded by Marathon Oil Company and the City of Robinson, and the fountain at Washington Park Lake was donated by the A. Hanby Jones Family. There is no smoking within 50 feet of the pool facility in the park, in the shelters, or near the concession stands located around the park, and anyone walking a dog must keep the pet on a leash at all times and clean up after the pet. Fishing rules at Washington Park Lake state that bluegill may be caught and kept, bass may be kept if they are 18 inches or longer with a limit of 4 per day, catfish may be kept except albino ones which must be released with a limit of 2 per day, no boats are allowed, fishermen must be alert for golfers, and there is no ice skating or ice fishing allowed during winter months. Various plants on the Nature Trail are identified by a unique marking system, a test of plant knowledge is available at the Club House, and signs along the trail provide educational information.
