The stated goal in youth development for YMCA of Rock River Valley Day Camps is to provide safe environments for youth to experience achievement, friendship and belonging. Camperships are funded by YMCA supporters through Annual Campaign efforts, and the Y offers scholarships titled Camperships. The Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) provides low-income, working families with access to child care connected to the program. Breakfast and lunch are offered to all campers at no additional cost through the Summer Food Service Program.
Families are asked to send campers with a backpack, water bottle, swimsuit, towel, closed-toe water shoes, insect repellent, a hat, and sunscreen, with sunscreen recommended to be applied to arms, legs, and back before arrival. Parents are advised to label all belongings, send children in clothing suitable for an active day such as shorts, t-shirts, light jackets, and athletic shoes, and to provide plenty of fluids for the day. Lunch is provided at camp, and campers may bring their own breakfast or lunch, including for dietary needs or preference.
