• Ages: 3–18 years old
The stated goal in youth development at YMCA of Rock River Valley Day Camps is to provide safe environments for youth to experience achievement, friendship and belonging. Camperships are funded by the generosity of YMCA supporters through Annual Campaign efforts, and the Y offers scholarships titled Camperships. The Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) provides low-income, working families with access to child care, and breakfast and lunch are offered to all campers through the Summer Food Service Program at no additional cost. Summer Camp registration is open for 2026, and Camp Days are offered during the school year on days when the Rockford and Harlem Districts do not have school, including winter and spring break weeks, with winter and spring break camps hosted at Camp Winnebago.
Adventure Camp at the Northeast Family, SwedishAmerican Riverfront and Good Shepherd YMCAs has access to indoor swimming pools at the Northeast and SwedishAmerican Ys, and campers who want to swim in the deep end take a swim test at the start of each week. Families are asked to send campers with a backpack, water bottle, swimsuit, towel, closed-toe water shoes, insect repellent, a hat, sunscreen, and clothing suitable for an active day such as shorts, t-shirts, light jackets for chilly mornings, and athletic shoes. It is recommended that parents or guardians apply sunscreen to campers’ arms, legs and back before camp, label all belongings, and send plenty of fluids for the day, and campers may bring a sack lunch even though lunch is provided. Lost and found items are kept at the YMCA for two full weeks and then donated to charity.
