The Petite Palette is an art and music school with three levels of learning: group classes, private lessons, and weekend group painting sessions, and almost everything in the studio is handmade. The studio is described as a fun, visually appealing space, with a color palette and wall paintings chosen to create a creative, educational atmosphere where classes and lessons are friendly for all ages and artistic abilities are the focus.

The Petite Palette states that it believes each person has the God-given ability to be creative, and that each class is designed with an emphasis on learning in drawing, painting, practicing chords, or reading sheet music. The mission includes creating a place for kids and adults to have a heartwarming experience and to create and grow each individual’s God-given artistic and musical ability, based on the belief that everyone is innately creative because God, the Creator, made each person in his creative image.

The owner and creator, Mrs. Michelle (Michelle Curtin), started The Petite Palette Inc. 10 years ago. Mrs. Michelle studied Interior Design and Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago. Mrs. Tori, who teaches some group classes, private lessons, and Anime Art Club, holds a K–12 art teaching license and has taught a variety of high school classes for over 5 years. Mrs. Jackie, who teaches some group classes and private lessons, graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA focusing on studio art and has taught art for over 10 years (K–12). Mrs. Ashley teaches Early Learner classes and lessons. Mrs. Jodi is the instructor for all fiber classes, including sewing, crochet, knitting, macrame, and weaving. Mallory is in charge of keeping the studio prepared for students and first came to The Petite Palette 10 years ago on opening day as a student in the first class.

In music, Ms. Deena teaches piano, guitar, voice, and ukulele classes; she studied music and theater in college, has performed professionally, and has taught music and theater to K–12 students in private schools and through private lessons for the past 13 years. Ms. Katie teaches violin lessons, has been teaching violin for over 20 years, uses methods influenced by Shinichi Suzuki and Mary Cohen, and holds both a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Arts. Chad Anderson, also known as “Mr. A,” teaches piano classes, holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, and has an extensive background in teaching music that spans over four decades.
