Kaleidoscope Dance Camps & Classes offers Summer Camps, Summer Classes, Dance Intensives, Summer Acro, and year-round dance classes. Dancers can take styles such as Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Tap, Lyrical, and Musical Theater, including Be a Star Dance Intensives.
• Ages: infants–18 years old
• Schedule: Two convenient 5-week sessions, with the option to take both and save 5%
Kaleidoscope Dance has been one of Skokie’s leading dance studios for aspiring professionals and kids who just want to have fun for over 15 years. The program offers over 100 classes a week, with small class and camp sizes and daily and weekly camp options. Programs include an EXPLORE path for dancers of all ages and abilities and an EVOLVE path for dedicated, advanced dancers, in a non-competitive and inclusive environment where self-esteem and confidence are the main focus. Each dancer participates in a professional year-end performance at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie, with four separate shows by age group and a link to view and download the professionally recorded performance. Kaleidoscope Dance offers lessons for children from infants to 18 years old, plus adult classes, in modern and spacious facilities with professional sprung-wood flooring, full-length mirrors, closed-circuit televisions, and two-way mirrors, as well as convenient drop-off and pick-up for parents.
The leadership team includes Heather Jackson (Owner and Kaleidoscope Dance Ensemble Artistic Director), April Torneby (Kaleidoscope Dance Ensemble Assistant Artistic Director), and Gabriela Ortiz (Kaleidoscope Krew Artistic Director). Instructors are qualified and trained, with at minimum bachelor degrees in dance and professional dance training. Heather Jackson has been instructing and choreographing professionally for over 20 years, received formal dance training from Claudette Soltis of the Joliet Ballet Society, graduated from Millikin University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Performance degree in Dance & Musical Theatre, is the former Director of Dance at the Mayer Kaplan JCC in Skokie, established the Kaleidoscope Dance Ensemble in the Northshore area in 2001, and has danced with the Indianapolis Ballet Theatre and performed with Chicago’s Timestep Players Children’s Theatre. April Torneby is a graduate of Cornish College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance with a focus on choreography, and her studies include anatomy, kinesiology, ballet, modern, jazz, teaching methodologies, and music theory. Gabriela Ortiz graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a double major in Dance and Performing Arts Management.
At Kaleidoscope Dance, the stated mission is to promote positive self-esteem while instilling a love and appreciation for dance and movement, with the expectation that each dancer reaches their potential and receives individual and personal attention, no matter the level. Kaleidoscope Dance is described as a top Chicagoland dance studio located at the crossroads of the Skokie and Evanston communities and embraces its role as a pillar of the community helping to foster a safe environment for learning and comradery. Registration is open for Summer 2026 programs, and a free trial class is available. The environment is described as family friendly and social.
