About
SIU Camps and Youth Programs offers a wide range of activities, including Craft Shop Workshops, Summer Art Camps - Craft Shop, LEGO Camps, and Kid Architecture Camp. Participants can take part in music programs such as the SIU School of Music Preparatory Programs and Suzuki School, Summer Music Camps for high school and junior high band, color guard, drum major, percussion, and Summer Piano Camp. The program also includes sports and athletic options like Southern Illinois Track & Field clinics and camps, Saluki Summer Baseball Camps, 8u–10u Baseball Tournaments, SIU Pitching Development, and the SIU Fall Baseball Prospect Showcase, as well as STEM and academic options such as STEM Research Camp, Gamification I and II, Sensory Engineering Camp, Learning a Language, Young Writers' Conference, AG Education Camp, and multiple STEAM-focused camps for girls and boys.

Events and Outreach assists SIU Intercollegiate Athletics, SIU Colleges, and other organizations in offering SIU Camps and Youth Programs for youth ages 5 to 18. These camps and youth programs are hosted by education professionals who are experts in their various fields. Events and Outreach coordinates more than 200 conferences, workshops, and programs annually, and in fiscal year 2018, Conference and Scheduling Services coordinated 170 conferences and professional programs with a total of 10,000 participants. As part of Student Affairs, the mission of these offerings is to provide alternative educational opportunities and to extend the educational resources of Southern Illinois University Carbondale beyond the traditional campus. The summer camp program continues the university’s values and missions of access and opportunity, inclusive excellence, innovation in research and creativity, and outstanding teaching focused on nurturing student success, and it does not discriminate against students in the participation of camps based on race, national origin, sex, gender, or other protected status. A completed Camp Medical Release Form is required for each registered camper, and forms must be submitted to Events and Outreach at least five business days before camp begins by sending them to [email protected].
