About
West Chicago Park District Summer Camp includes sports, fitness, games, arts and crafts, field trips, outdoor exploration, crafts, and play. Campers swim at Turtle Splash and use the splash pad at Turtle Splash, with all activities included in the price of camp. Campers must bring a sack lunch, beverage, and two snacks each day.
• Ages: 3–13 years old
• Schedule: 2026 season runs June 1–August 21, with before and after care available every day
• Price: Save 5% if paid in full at the time of registration when self-registering online or at the front desk more than 1 week in advance for Camp Keppler and Camp WeGo weekly registrations (discount does not apply to AM/PM extended care)
From June 16–August 4, Camp Keppler has exclusive use of the splash pad at Turtle Splash on Mondays and Thursdays and in-house field trips on Tuesdays. From June 16–August 4, Camp WeGo swims at Turtle Splash on Mondays and Thursdays and has in-house or off-site field trips on Tuesdays. Parents must complete ePact electronic participant documents at least two business days before the child’s start date, and participants are not considered registered and cannot participate until these forms are completed.
The program is part of the West Chicago Park District, which was established in 1972 and has been serving the community for over 50 years. The District’s mission is “Creating an enhanced quality of life through effective programs, progressive facilities and preservation of parks and natural resources in a fiscally responsible manner.” The leadership team connected to this program includes Recreation Supervisor Pam Schiavoni, the Executive Director of Parks and Recreation (full-time, name not stated), and Superintendent of Parks Mike Gasparini. The District is a core member of the Healthy West Chicago initiative and is highly committed to creating a healthier community.
The District maintains over 400 acres, including Reed-Keppler Park, which is known as “the heart of the community.” The District uses an EZ Payment Plan with automatic charges to a credit card on the 1st and 15th of the month. If a child requires a 1:1 WDSRA aide, registration must be completed by Thursday, April 30th, and registration after that date does not guarantee that support will be available. The District has a Solar Energy Project with an 862 kW grid-interactive photovoltaic system producing 1,150,000 kWh annually to offset approximately 84% of the energy used by the ARC Center and Zone 250 per year, and this project will save the District approximately one million dollars over the 20-year commitment with Trane Technologies.
