The program’s mission statement notes that the league emphasizes skills, fundamentals, sportsmanship and fun, and states that the main goal of this program is to have fun. Program details specify that participants in volleyball play on elementary high nets and use softer volleyballs, that everyone is guaranteed to play an equal amount of time because substitution is on rotation, and that the program does not keep score and states that nobody wins or loses. The program description notes that a cooperative effort involving parents, coaches, referees and Wheaton Park District staff is required to achieve goals and objectives, that volleyball coaches are asked to keep their comments on game day to a minimum to lower the level of intensity on the court, and that parents, spectators and coaches are asked to show good sportsmanship and offer only positive reinforcement.
