Baker Summer Discovery Camp

Baker Summer Discovery Camp includes arts and crafts, swimming, outdoor games and sports, and daily “team time” as part of its camp day. Weekly swimming, art, and movement classes are included for campers. On Fridays, 1st–6th graders go on a walking trip to nearby Lighthouse Beach, while PreK and Kindergarteners have fun swim and a water day on the Baker Field.

• Ages: 3–12 years old
• Schedule: Camp runs 8:30 a.m.–3:15 p.m., with multiple one-week sessions and some four-day weeks from early June through early August, plus optional Morning Care (7:30–8:15 a.m.) and After Care (3:15–5:00 p.m.).

Camp is designed for preschoolers (age 3+) through rising sixth graders, and 7th–9th graders return as Counselors-in-Training in leadership roles. Baker Summer Discovery Camp is part of Baker Demonstration School, which was founded in 1918 and served as the lab school for the teacher college at National Louis University for 87 years before becoming independent in 2005. Baker Demonstration School has been nationally recognized for its practice of progressive education and describes itself as a community that is global in perspective, diverse in composition, and reflective of the world. Its mission is to champion an exemplary progressive education that cultivates an intrinsic motivation to learn, values differences, nurtures the whole person, and encourages courageous choices. Full Summer and Multi-Sibling Discounts are available and are applied by camp admin staff after registration, and early registration is recommended because many sessions fill quickly and a waitlist is created once spots are filled.
