About

Cypress Cove Swim Programs include preschool swim lessons, youth swim lessons, Parent and Tot swim lessons, private swim lessons, Junior Lifeguard, the Sea Lions Swim Team, swim practices, and swim meets. Preschool swim lessons use four levels of progressive instruction, with all participants tested on the first day of each session and assigned to levels equivalent to their ability, and a ratio of 1 instructor to 5 participants. Youth swim lessons follow a station method of instruction, with students tested the first day and placed in one of seven skill levels, and a maximum ratio of 1 instructor to 6 participants. Parent and Tot swim lessons have one child per parent, focus on orientation to the water, and have the parent and child work together under the instructor’s supervision. Private swim lessons offer one-on-one, 30-minute instruction, follow the same station method as group lessons, and guarantee the same instructor for each two-week private lesson session.

For all swim lesson sessions, two days at the end are scheduled as rain days, and these rain days are only used if a lesson was cancelled by the Lesson Coordinator, with only two rain days possible per session and held rain or shine. Safety skills and lessons take place on inclement rain days, and there are no make-ups for sickness or vacation. Classes cancelled less than 24 hours in advance will not be refunded.

Junior Lifeguard participants undergo the same training as the Woodridge Park District’s lifeguards, and participants who are proficient in all skills will be considered as candidates for employment when they are age eligible. Sea Lions Swim Team swimmers are divided into five age categories: 8 years and younger, 9–10 years, 11–12 years, 13–14 years, and 15–18 years as of June 1, 2025. New Sea Lions swimmers must be able to swim one continuous length of the pool, must present a birth certificate at registration, and must complete registration in person at the Woodridge Park District Community Center. All new swim team swimmers must attend a preseason skills testing to ensure they are ready for swim team. All Sea Lions parents are required to volunteer at swim meets. Things to bring to Sea Lions Swim Team registration include a birth certificate, a $60/$70 check for the Parent Association, and payment for registration. The Sea Lions Swim Team season lasts approximately two months in June and July, with practices held every morning Monday through Friday, and meets on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. The meets are scored according to the United States Swimming (USS) rules for 2024.

Swim lessons are color-coded to help participants find the location of their lessons, and lesson coordinators wear polo shirts with matching colors so participants can easily identify and locate them on the pool deck. Cypress Cove’s lifeguards received a 4-star safety rating from StarGuard Elite for their July audit. The Woodridge Park District is entering its 46th season as a member of the DuPage Swim & Dive Conference and is a member of the DuPage Swim & Dive Conference. Cypress Cove is closed for the season and will see visitors in 2026, and Cypress Cove jobs will be posted in January 2026.
