The Summer Musical Theatre Workshop includes acting, vocal technique, choreography, scene study, song and audition repertoire, and backstage technical direction. This week long workshop is for students entering grades 6-12.
• Ages: 11–17 years old
• Schedule: Week-long workshop, July 20–24, 2026
• Price: Tuition $250 per participant, $100 for an additional child/children in the same household; $100 non-refundable deposit due with registration, with the balance due by June 15, 2026
The workshop will be held July 20-24, 2026, running 9:00 am – 3:00 pm Monday through Thursday, and 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Friday, with a student showcase on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 7:00 pm. Participants attend a placement audition in late May or early June, with specific dates to be determined. Participants must be paid in full to receive their music, which is emailed, and this music must be printed and brought to the workshop in a binder. A parent meeting will be held prior to the workshop and will be virtual, with a link emailed before the date. Tickets for the student showcase are sold through the Woodstock Opera House Box Office for $10.
The program is offered by Theatre 121, an inclusive theatre company for the McHenry County area whose mission is to provide entertainment, education, connections, and community through excellence in the arts. Theatre 121 has been bringing live theatre to McHenry County since 1967 and was voted the Best Theatre Company in McHenry County in 2025. The organization states that participants learn from professionals in the Chicago Theatre industry. Theatre 121 reports that it strengthens community bonds by drawing visitors to Woodstock and area businesses, developing skills both on and off the stage, and providing entertainment and a sense of community for all.
