Camp sessions are one week long, Monday through Friday, except Session C (June 15-18, no camp June 19) and Session E (June 29-July 2, no camp July 3). Parents are responsible for transporting their children to and from camp each day, and once at camp, city buses and passenger vans are used to transport campers to and from field trips that are not within walking distance, with only trained, licensed drivers transporting campers. Families are asked to send a sack lunch and water bottle, a swimsuit and towel, and any special sunscreen, bug spray, or medications.

Kid City Summer Camps includes Kid City Original and Kid City Quest programs, with Quest campers actively engaged in activities separate from younger Kid City Original campers and space dedicated to Questers where they can spend time with friends. Staff-to-camper ratios are 1:6 for grade K, 1:8 for grades 1–4, and 1:10 for Kid City Quest. Camp staff are enthusiastic, well-trained adults, and all staff are CPR and First Aid certified and follow professional standards set by the American Camp Association and the Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department. All Kid City Original and Quest programs are accredited by the American Camp Association.

The camps are inclusive and serve children with and without disabilities, and inclusion services are available for accommodation needs and support options. Camp offers a break from technology, replacing it with participation in the community. Only campers enrolled for at least one week of Kid City or Quest Summer Camp are eligible to attend the All Camp Parent Night Out and the All Camp Overnight. The Inclusion Coordinator for the program is Amy Shrake. The mission of Kid City Summer Camps is: “We give every child a summer to remember!”
