Stafford Music Academy was established in 2005 by Bloomington native Christopher Stafford and is now owned by Jessica Harris. The program states a commitment to providing high-quality music lessons in Bloomington, Indiana to both children and adults. Some teachers are professional musicians, and others are current or graduated students of Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, and all teachers have passed extensive screening and background checks. Families describe teachers as going “the extra mile” for their students and mention long-term participation in guitar, piano, music theory, bucket drumming, and performance experiences such as recitals. Parents report that their children are eager to attend lessons, have formed strong connections with instructors, and have made progress in reading music, playing in a number of styles, and feeling comfortable performing before large audiences.
