About

Performex Martial Arts offers Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, No-Gi, kickboxing, mixed martial arts, striking, cardio kickboxing, strength and conditioning, youth martial arts through the Lil Goonies program, wrestling, and grappling. Classes use a Crawl-Walk-Run progression system, with structured paths for No-Gi, Gi, striking, MMA, and youth training. The program includes intentional fundamentals, live rounds with purpose, and conditioning built into the training.

Performex Martial Arts states a mission of coaching beginners, families, and competitors with the same focus: “make you better—on the mat and off it.” The program offers a Lil Goonies youth program for ages 5–12 with age-appropriate technique and games and includes anti-bullying foundations. The gym notes a welcoming, positive, high-energy environment with zero attitude, a focus on effort, respect, accountability, and team standards, and clear development paths for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, No-Gi, kickboxing, MMA, and youth training. Performex Martial Arts is co-owned and coach-led locally by Roberto Ramirez and Jake Hockenbury, with coaching leadership that also includes Caleb Cox. Roberto Ramirez is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under 4th Degree Black Belt James Clingerman, is an active IBJJF competitor, and has medaled at events including the Pan Ams and World Championships, with Brown Belt highlights such as Gold at Pan No-Gi 2021 and multiple Bronze medals at Worlds and Pan No-Gi. Jake Hockenbury began wrestling at age 4, wrestled collegiately at Lincoln College in Illinois, coached high school wrestling for four years at Decatur Central High School, was a 2017 member of the Team USA Grappling Team, and holds MMA championship belts in two weight classes while actively competing in MMA (4–0) and coaching grappling, striking, cardio kickboxing, and strength and conditioning. Caleb Cox is a former Division 1 linebacker at Indiana State, is a Brownsburg native, has competed in MMA, boxing, and kickboxing, holds a Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, has records of 2–1 in MMA, 14–6 in amateur boxing, and 3–1 in kickboxing, and earned Bronze at Worlds No-Gi 2021 (Purple, SHW). The program highlights world-level IBJJF podium experience, MMA champions on staff, and coaches who hold students accountable.
