The School Breaks Program includes social circle time, exercise, arts and crafts, academic skills, hygiene skills, vocational skills, and safety programming. Participants also spend time playing games, completing puzzles with peers, and joining group activities that encourage teamwork. The program follows a daily schedule that includes a wide variety of curriculum and provides individualized programming for each child at 1:1 and 4:1 ratios.
• Schedule: Provides services during Winter and Summer school breaks from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Price: Funding for the break program is available through the FS and CIH waivers in Indiana (Service codes: DHI, DHGS). Private pay rates are also available.
Meaningful Day Services, which runs the School Breaks Program, was initially developed in 1994. The organization states its mission as providing quality, hands-on services that enhance and improve the independence of each unique individual. The Director of Community Supports is Jordyn Koertge. The organization also offers quality home-based therapy for those with disabilities and offers therapeutic services statewide in Indiana. Staff and participants also go into the community to work on individualized goals in real world situations.
