The Summer Camp Series offers 13 different day camps that include Outdoor Explorers, STEAM Team, Adventures in Art, Camp Wayback, Chillville, Expedition Discovery, I.M.P.A.C.T., Kids at Play, Science of Summer, The Summer Experience, Under the Sun, and Vacation Vibes. Camp activities include sports, nature and animals, art, science and experimentation, hands-on scientific method learning, and fun games, crafts, and field trips. Specific camp focuses range from exploring nature and the outdoors, to creating art and getting messy, to themed weeks that mix sports, nature, animals, art, and other activities.

• Ages: 5–15 years old
• Schedule: Weekly day camps with sessions running from Week 1 (starting May 27, 2026) through Week 10 (starting July 27, 2026), with registration beginning March 1, 2026, and early bird registration for currently enrolled families on March 1 from 9am–12pm.
• Price: A non-refundable registration fee of $50 per week, per camper, is due at enrollment, and if payment is not received in full by the stated deadline, a $10 per camper late fee is added.

Outdoor Explorers suggests campers use sunscreen, walking shoes, and sun visors while they explore nature. STEAM Team focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math, while Adventures in Art focuses on creating art. Expedition Discovery explores the world’s biomes through games, crafts, and field trips, and Science of Summer focuses on hands-on, scientific method learning with an emphasis on fun. The Summer Experience rotates through themes such as sports, nature, animals, and art, Under the Sun offers a mix of activities including sports and art, and Vacation Vibes is described as the ultimate summer camp filled with fun, relaxation, and exciting adventures. I.M.P.A.C.T. stands for Initiative, Motivation, Professionalism, Achievement, Compassion, and Teamwork and is described as teaching essential life skills in a job-like setting, and Kids at Play focuses on cooperation and team-building skills with each week ending with a visit from a local vendor.

The Summer Camp Series is a component of the Extended School Enrichment (ESE) program. Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation, which operates the Summer Camp Series, was founded in 1991 and partnered with Carmel Clay Schools in 1993 to create a summer program. Its mission is to be a steward of a healthy community by providing transformative experiences. Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation manages more than 700 acres of park land and offers more than 5,000 annual classes and programs for all ages, and the park system is certified wildlife friendly and habitat friendly.

Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation and its programs have received multiple national and state recognitions, including the National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management in 2014 and again in 2020, and CAPRA national accreditation with reaccreditation in 2024. The Summer Camp Series was recognized for outstanding programming with American Camp Association accreditation in 2022 and celebrated this ACA accreditation in 2023, and is described as a nationally accredited summer camp provider. Awards listed for the agency include CAPRA National Accreditation, National Gold Medal Award, Barb King Environmental Stewardship Award, Excellence in Inclusion Award, Nationally Accredited Summer Camp Provider Award, and Outstanding Agency Award.

The leadership team for Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation includes Executive Director/CEO Michael Klitzing, Assistant Director/COO Kurtis Baumgartner, Administration & Planning Director Eric Mehl, Marketing & Communications Director Trudy Coler, Parks & Natural Resources Director Michael Allen, Recreation & Facilities Director Michael Normand, Human Resources Director Claudine Sutton, and Extended School Enrichment/Summer Camp Series Director Jennifer Brown. Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation was established through an Interlocal Cooperation Agreement between the City of Carmel and Clay Township in Indiana and partners with Carmel Clay Schools to operate the Extended School Enrichment program at all 11 Carmel elementary schools.
