Head Start / Early Head Start is offered by Human Services, Inc., which is a Community Action Agency. Head Start and Early Head Start give families encouragement through the services the program provides. Human Services, Inc. began in 1965 as BBJ – Community Action Program, and in 1973 the agency became Human Services, Inc. Human Services, Inc. maintains services throughout South Central Indiana and serves the Indiana counties of Bartholomew, Decatur, Jackson, Johnson, and Shelby. The mission of Human Services, Inc. is “Bridging the gap to stability through coaching, education and partnerships.” Human Services, Inc., a Community Action Agency, offers a variety of assistance to families and individuals in need and creates solutions that lead to stability and independence for individuals and families in an ever-changing economy and diverse community, while exhibiting a high standard of excellence. These efforts have created community partnerships and collaborations for the purpose of reducing barriers to a population.
