About

BU Soccer Camp offers soccer along with swimming, games, movies, a talent show, and trivia games. Campers take part in a variety of these activities during each camp session.

• Ages: 5–14 years old
• Schedule: Camp hours are 9:00am–3:00pm Monday–Thursday and 9:00am–12:00pm Friday, with supervision available from 8:00am and After-Care offered until 6:00pm Monday–Friday.
• Price: The cost of After-Care per day is $20, with additional siblings at $10 per day, and a lunch pass for the camp week available for $20.

Butler University offers camp facilities that are used during each camp session, and pick-up for After-Care is at Hinkle Fieldhouse, Gate 1. On various days, younger campers have the option of a 40-minute swim at the HRC indoor pool, which has a depth of 3 feet, 6 inches. Campers choosing to swim need a swimsuit, towel, and a change of shoes for the walk to the pool, and campers may bring their own lunch. At camp check-in on Monday morning, parents can make the athletic trainer aware of any medicine or medical conditions their camper may have. Camp will not be canceled due to bad weather; in severe weather, campers are moved indoors for alternative activities.

BU Soccer Camp describes itself as long-established market leaders and experts in their field, with a vast array of camp activities and a coach-to-camp ratio and curriculum that foster and promote skill development, sportsmanship, and the enjoyment of living an active lifestyle. Elite sessions are offered for 8–14 year old soccer players who play the majority of the year and participate on competitive teams. The camp is also described as being for beginner and advanced players between the ages of 5–12, with campers grouped by age, ability, and physical maturity, and re-grouped according to skill level after evaluation. A team discount of $20 per player is available with a team sign-up. Campers can use a Camp Snack Card to buy drinks and snacks at the concession stand instead of carrying cash. This camp is open to any and all entrants, limited only by number and age, grade level, and/or gender.

The staff is described as unmatched in the quality of licensed and accredited staff. Elite campers spend the morning portion of camp training with the Butler University coaching staff and other top U.S. Soccer licensed coaches from around the country. Youth campers are coached by men’s and women’s college players from Butler University and other universities across the country. A certified camp athletic trainer is present during all camp sessions.

The leadership team includes Tari St. John, Co-Owner, who has completed her 18th season with the Bulldogs and has served as Co-Head Coach alongside Rob Alman for the past 10 years. In 2009, Coach St. John established a chapter of TOPSoccer, a community-based training program for athletes with intellectual, emotional, and/or physical disabilities. In 2021, the United Soccer Coaches Association honored St. John with the Disability Allies Award of Excellence. The camp states two main goals: to provide each player with tools to become a better player, and to provide such a positive camp experience that each player’s love for the game grows even more.

Parent feedback includes comments that a camper “had a blast” and “just loved all of it,” that another camper “learned new skills, new friendships, new memories,” and that families plan to return next year. One parent described a camper working to earn a juggling tag and shared that BU Soccer Camp “has been fantastic.” Another family stated that BU Soccer Camp “exceeded our expectations” and that they look forward to returning and possibly bringing more teammates.
