Dance Kaleidoscope School offers dance classes through its school program. The school provides 34 weekly classes that serve over 200 students.

Founded in 1972 to bring contemporary dance to public schools, Dance Kaleidoscope is now in its 54th season and is one of the Midwest’s longest-performing professional dance companies. The organization presents four unique main stage performances in Indianapolis each year with diverse work created by industry leading choreographers and showcases athleticism and technical expertise in contemporary dance. The mission of Dance Kaleidoscope is “To Inspire, Educate, and Entertain through the experience of outstanding contemporary dance.” The leadership team includes Christel DeHaan Artistic Director Joshua Blake Carter and Artistic Director Emeritus David Hochoy, and the Artistic Director position is named in honor and memory of Christel DeHaan through a Legacy Gift.
Dance Kaleidoscope has collaborated with the Damien Center, Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, Ballet Hispanico, Phoenix Rising Dance Company, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. It has joined forces with other Indianapolis cultural institutions through the Access Pass Program to make dance experiences accessible with $5 tickets and deeply discounted dance class tuition fees through its scholarship program. The company and staff work together under one roof and make their studio available to community groups and artists. Dance Kaleidoscope performs on the Eskenazi Health Main Campus as part of the Marianne Tobias Music Program and supports other nonprofit organizations such as the Damien Center, the Firefly Children and Family Alliance, and the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir. One testimonial from within the organization states, “It’s humbling to be retiring at the end of the 50th Anniversary Season. We’ve been reflecting on the past but mostly we are all looking forward together to an exciting and sustainable future for Dance Kaleidoscope.”
