About
IU Indianapolis Center for Young Children - Toddler Program includes daily activities such as music, art, and outdoor play. The program follows a curriculum that uses play, hands-on activities, and interaction with the environment. Teachers in the infant and toddler rooms work with small groups of children and focus on building nurturing, supportive relationships.
• Ages: 0–2 years old
• Schedule: Open Monday–Friday, 7:30 am–5:30 pm
The program is part of a year-round daycare that serves children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. It is included in the Infant / Toddler program for ages 6 weeks to 2 years old, alongside other options at the Center such as the Wee-School program for age 2, a Multi-Age program for ages 3–5 years old, and a STEM Pre-K program for ages 4–5 years old. The curriculum is described as promoting independence, self-esteem, confidence, and critical thinking skills.
The Center’s mission, in place since its founding in 1979, is to provide exceptional care and early childhood education to the IU Indianapolis and Indianapolis communities. Experienced and professional teachers guide and encourage each child. The Center is licensed to accept CCDF and On-My-Way Pre-K program vouchers. Located on the Indiana University Indianapolis campus, it offers childcare and early childhood education for both the university and the broader Indianapolis communities.
Families have shared that they feel their children belong at the Center and that teachers and programming support their children’s growth. One parent noted being impressed with the structure of the 2-year-old classroom and their child’s growth over a few months. Another parent described teachers helping their child, who does not handle change well, transition to a new school and make new friends.
