USA Football is the National Governing Body for American football in the United States. As the National Governing Body of American football, USA Football selects, trains, and leads the U.S. National Teams in tackle and flag football, while delivering football development resources, sport standards, and competitive opportunities to athletes at every level. USA Football is the sole U.S. member of the International Federation of American Football (IFAF), the international governing body for the sport of American football. USA Football has been formally certified as the sport’s official National Governing Body by the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC). Athletes in this program can be evaluated at Talent ID Camps, Digital Combines, and other National Team Development Program qualifying events to start their path toward competing on a U.S. National Team, Select Team, and eventually in the Summer 2028 Olympics. USA Football also offers courses for new and returning tackle coaches, as well as flag football coaches and officials, and provides a structured approach to athlete development through its Football Development Model (FDM) with multiple entry points through USA Tackle and USA Flag.
