About
Tippy Toes School of Dance is a ballet-based dance studio where students take ballet and tap classes. The program includes recitals that use age-appropriate music and costuming, and each recital has a theme where each student gets to play a part. The studios are specially built to accommodate one observer per student right inside the dance room, and parents are welcome to observe every class.
• Ages: 1–18 years old
• Price: Payments are broken up into monthly payments. A flat fee is charged at the beginning of each month, and there are no refunds and no option to skip months. If a family cancels and then enrolls again later in the same dance year, there is a $60 enrollment fee. Unpaid tuition balances accrue a $5 monthly late fee if not paid after the 1st of each month. Registration is free with no registration fee, and once enrolled, families are charged a flat monthly rate regardless of the number of classes in the month. Costume money is usually due in November, and there is a recital fee due in spring.
Tippy Toes School of Dance has specialized in preschool dance since 1980. It is a ballet-based dance studio dedicated to instilling the love of dance, and its teachers are described as friendly and kind. The studio uses a variety of toys and props to keep young children entertained while teaching the basics of ballet and tap. Recitals use backdrops, special lighting, and props. The Baby and Me program accepts students as young as 15 months old, preschool classes are for ages 2–4, and there are classes for older students as well. Children of all ages can learn the fundamentals of dance in what the program describes as a safe and comfortable atmosphere, and parent observation is allowed every day, not just on special days. No contract is required, and registration is free with a flat monthly rate.
Students in Baby and Me, Preschool, Beginner, and Elementary 1 levels can wear a leotard of any color, pink ballet tights, and pink ballet shoes, with tan tap shoes without laces; skirts, ballet wraps, and tutus are optional. Elementary II and up must wear a solid dark leotard and pink tights, with optional ballet wrap sweaters, skirts, or leg warmers that must be approved by the teacher. No street clothes such as shorts, pants, t-shirts, or oversized sweaters are allowed, and students not following this rule are asked to sit and observe instead of dancing. All students need pink ballet shoes. Students in Baby and Me, Preschool, Beginner, and Elementary 1 need tan tap shoes without laces; Elementary 2–3 and Intermediate 1–2 need tan buckled tap shoes; and Intermediate 3 students need black lace-up tap shoes. Families should also expect to purchase dance attire and shoes.
