About

UIndy Music Summer Camps includes jazz theory and jazz repertoire instruction, improvisation instruction, and performing in a jazz combo with faculty members. The program also offers instruction in live and recorded sound, opportunities to record jazz combo performers in a recording session, and providing technology for a live performance. Additional activities include piano lessons, piano ensembles, music theory, music history, games, a recital, core music classes, major area classes, daily ensemble rehearsals, masterclasses, and presentations.

• Schedule: JAZZ and RECORDING CAMP: June 1–5; SUMMER PIANO CAMP: June 1–5; MUSIC MAJOR IN THE MAKING: June 8–12

UIndy Music Summer Camps are hosted by the University of Indianapolis Department of Music. Jazz combo track instruction includes full-time and adjunct University of Indianapolis faculty, and Summer Piano Camp instructors include UIndy faculty, alumni, and students. UIndy hosts these annual summer programs to offer an opportunity for students to immerse themselves in their chosen fields for several days under the guidance of renowned faculty and guest artists. The JAZZ and RECORDING CAMP offers two tracks, one for performing musicians and one for students who want to learn more about music technology. The Annual UIndy Summer Piano Camp is open to pianists with all levels of experience. MUSIC MAJOR IN THE MAKING is a one-week resident instrumental music camp focused on the daily life of a collegiate music major, and its stated goal is to prepare future music students for collegiate study.
