About

Bradford Woods Camps and Outdoor Programs includes activities such as ropes courses, creative arts, nature-focused experiences, archery, aquatic activities, adaptive sports, recreation, music, nutrition, and an evening program. Explorers Camp is a week-long residential camp for youth ages 9–13. Bradford Woods offers nationally-acclaimed camps for children and adults with physical disabilities and chronic illnesses.

• Ages: 9–18 years old
• Schedule: A variety of 12-week, paid positions are available and employment runs from late May to early August.

For over 65 years, Bradford Woods has been providing recreational, educational, and leadership development opportunities to youth and adults locally, nationally, and globally. Bradford Woods is Indiana University's Outdoor Center and hosts over 16,000 visitors and over 400 unique events annually on its 2,500-acre campus. Bradford Woods provides experiential and therapeutic outdoor programs to people of all backgrounds and abilities and unites all programs and education under the banner of “Outdoors for All.” Bradford Woods acknowledges and honors Indigenous communities native to the region and recognizes that it was built on Indigenous homelands and resources.

Recreational Therapy Interns in the program are supervised by a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS). Bradford Woods is accredited by the American Camp Association. Community partners include organizations such as the American Camp Association, CHAMP Camp, Easter Seals—Crossroads (Indianapolis), the Indiana Department of Child Services, the Indiana Department of Veterans' Affairs, the Indiana National Guard J-9 Division, Indiana University Outdoor Adventures, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana Sports Program, Riley Children’s Foundation, and Riley Hospital for Children. Room and board is included during camp for summer staff.

The mission of Bradford Woods is to improve the quality of life for people of all backgrounds and abilities by using its outdoor setting to provide education, therapy, and recreation. One camper shared, “Bradford Woods has changed my life forever. When I'm here, it doesn't feel like reality. I get to do everything I didn't think was possible.”
