READ Rockets After School Tutoring offers tutoring for 3rd–5th grade students as part of the literacy programs provided by READ Jackson County. The program is one of several tutoring and literacy options that also include Advanced Conversation classes for English Language Learners, Baby Book Bundles, and tutors for adult learners.

Jackson County Learning Center (JCLC), where READ Rockets is offered, officially opened on August 4, 2010. The JCLC director is Amy Heideman, and the administrative assistant is Rhea Speckner. The mission of the Jackson County Learning Center is to provide educational and workforce support services for community members and to foster an atmosphere of lifelong learning and career development. JCLC was created through a private/public partnership between The Community Foundation of Jackson County, the City of Seymour, and the Chamber of Commerce, and its facility programming partners include McDowell Education Center, Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus, Indiana University Columbus, Read Jackson County, Sylvan Learning of Columbus-Seymour, Vincennes University, LEAF (Learning Enrichment And Fun) of Jackson County, and WorkOne Southeast. READ Jackson County’s mission is focused on increasing literacy of adults and children in the community.
