Kids MakeIt STEAM Programs offers week-long bootcamps and STEAM tutoring and open lab sessions. The bootcamps include agricultural technology and urban farming, robotics and artificial intelligence, systems design and general engineering, arts and creativity, general science, computer programming and hardware development, business administration and entrepreneurship, and aeronautical science and drones. The program also includes a Teen Tech Hub, STEM Club, and in-person or virtual options.

About the provider
Kids MakeIt is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Its purpose is to inspire and capture the career and business ambitions of Lexington’s North End youth while providing STEAM opportunities to explore creativity. The leadership team includes Darnell Garret and Shawndel Pleasant, both Co-Directors and STEAM Educators. Kids MakeIt partners with NIHF to bring STEM curriculum to area youth and works with 4-H on its STEM Club.

- Teen Tech Hub — 6-12 grade · Youth tech hub that builds perseverance, creativity, curiosity, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills in youth through hands-on experiences.
- AgTech Bootcamp — 1-12 grade · Learn about urban farming and build smart gardens. Leads to a certificate in Agricultural Technology & Urban Farming.
- Robotics Bootcamp — 1-12 grade · Design AI bots and program them. Leads to a certificate in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
- Engineering Bootcamp — 1-12 grade · Learn how to put systems together and build cool gadgets. Leads to a certificate in Systems Design and General Engineering.
- Arts & Creativity Bootcamp — 1-12 grade · Tap into imagination and learn to bring ideas and vision to life. Leads to a certificate in Arts & Creativity.
- General Science Bootcamp — 1-12 grade · Explore biology, chemistry and math behind the physical world. Leads to a certificate in General Science.
- Computer Science Bootcamp — 1-12 grade · Learn to code and build electrical circuits and computers from scratch. Leads to a certificate in Computer Programming & Hardware Development.
- Entrepreneurship Bootcamp — 9-12 grade · Learn from the experts and build a new startup business. Leads to a certificate in Business Administration & Entrepreneurship.
- Aerospace & Drones Bootcamp — 1-12 grade · Learn about flight mechanics, build a drone from scratch, or earn your FAA pilots license. Leads to a certificate in Aeronautical Science & Drones.
- STEM Club — An organized group of youth who participate in STEM activities and meet throughout the year and elect officers.
Kids MakeIt programs are parent-paid but also qualify for Title I, 21st Century Community Learning Centers, Migrant Education and State & Local resource funding, contingent upon community partnership(s).
