Visually Impaired Preschool Services (VIPS) Early Intervention Programs

Visually Impaired Preschool Services (VIPS) Early Intervention Programs offer early intervention services to children who are blind or have low vision. The program includes evaluations, in-home visits, and access to resources that help parents and caregivers better understand and support their child. VIPS services help parents and caregivers navigate the unknown as they support a young child with blindness or low vision.

• Ages: 0–5 years old

VIPS provides early intervention and educational support for all of Kentucky and Indiana. The mission of VIPS is to empower families by providing educational excellence to young children with blindness or low vision in order to build a strong foundation for reaching their highest potential. VIPS is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) Organization. GE’s IT Department has volunteered at VIPS and made donor cards using the brailler and craft materials.

One parent shared that visual therapy with a VIPS provider guided the family in ways to help their daughter Brynn focus and in finding toys and backlighting that she sees better, and described being “blown away” by her progress and excited to see Brynn turn her head to look and smile.
