YMCA of the North Shore Childcare Programs
Salem YMCA, 200 Cummings Center, Suite 173D, Beverly, MA 01915
About
YMCA of the North Shore Childcare Programs include activities such as swimming, basketball, yoga, gymnastics, and pickleball. The programs also offer Infant, Toddler & Preschool care, Before & After School care, and Kid’s Club drop-in babysitting. Older participants can access lifeguard, CPR, first aid, and swim instructor certifications.
• Ages: 0–12 years old
• Schedule: Care is available during school vacation weeks, early release days, snow days and other school breaks.
• Price: Flexible pricing ensures everyone has access to the Y; everyone belongs at the Y, regardless of income, and families can ask about Flexible Pricing.
Under the leadership of the Vice President of Risk Management, the programs use highly trained Inclusion Specialists who foster a proactive environment and work with families to develop strategies tailored to each child’s social, emotional, and physical development. All Kids’ Club staff are thoroughly screened and certified in CPR and First Aid. The mission of YMCA of the North Shore Childcare Programs states that the Y offers programs from early education to teen development so children can learn, grow and thrive.
All programs are licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care, and the Plaistow, New Hampshire program is licensed by the New Hampshire department. YMCA of the North Shore is recognized as a Praesidium Accredited Organization, and is one of only 44 YMCA associations out of nearly 800 in the country to earn this accreditation in the prevention of child sexual abuse. The organization reports that its seven YMCA locations partner with dozens of elementary schools to provide before and afterschool child care during the school year, and that staff support the educational, social, and emotional development of children in 25 cities and towns through education, food security, swim safety, and affordable housing efforts. The program notes that Kids’ Club drop-in babysitting is free for families holding a Family Membership, and that children ages 6 weeks to 8 years are welcome in Kids’ Club while parents are in the Y facility.
