About
Areteem Math Summer Camps offers STEM camps focused on in-depth math problem solving in algebra, geometry, counting and probability, and number theory. Camp days include organized sports and recreation, evening seminars, group activities, group study sessions or study hall, and field trips to local attractions and theme parks.
• Ages: 9–18 years old
• Schedule: Three-week residential/day camps run Sunday through Thursday with classes and Friday–Saturday field trips, plus a four-week online camp with classes held 9am–3pm Pacific Time Monday through Friday.
• Price: Application fee: $75. Residential tuition: Early $5595, Regular $5995, Late $6495. Day tuition: Early $3295, Regular $3595, Late $3995. International tuition: Early $6595, Regular $6995, Late $7495.
On typical class days from Sunday through Thursday, the schedule includes a morning room check and breakfast from 7:30 to 8:30 AM, a morning workshop from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, a group lunch from 12:15 to 1:15 PM, and an afternoon workshop from 1:30 to 4:30 PM. Each day also includes organized sports and recreation from 4:30 to 6:00 PM, a dinner break from 6:00 to 7:00 PM, evening seminars or group activities from 7:00 to 8:00 PM, a group study session or study hall from 8:00 to 9:00 PM, supervised free time from 9:00 to 10:00 PM, and room check and lights out from 10:00 to 11:00 PM. On non-class days (Friday and Saturday), the schedule consists of field trips where students travel to local attractions and theme parks. Residential students live in dorms on campus with other campers and camp staff. All camps are open to students from around the globe, and one addition to the program is helping students learn skills in conducting research in mathematics and its applications, especially AI-related research and applications.
Areteem Math Summer Camps includes three-week residential and day camp sessions and a four-week online camp via Zoom. The three-week camps are offered as residential or day options, and the online camp runs for four weeks. Online camp classes are held from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Pacific Time Monday through Friday.
The leadership team includes Dr. Kevin Wang, who is a former China Team member for the International Math Olympiad (IMO). Dr. Wang was the top scorer in China in the American Math Competition (AMC) and American Invitational Math Examination (AIME), and a winner of multiple national and international contests in math and science in China. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Pennsylvania State University and has worked as a faculty member in Mathematics at UC Irvine and UCLA.
Areteem programs, including online and onsite courses, summer and winter intensive training camps, and workshops, are accredited by WASC, and Areteem AP courses are officially approved by the College Board, with ACS WASC accreditation indicated. Areteem is a long-term partner with the LA County Office of Education, the organizer of the LA Math Field Day and the STEM Festival. ZIML competition problems associated with Areteem cover many types of AMC math problems and offer similar math challenges, with levels that correspond to AMC 8, 10, 12, AIME, and USAMO levels.
Parent and student feedback includes comments such as a 2024 UCSD camper named Dora saying that the material will be really useful for future tests and competitions. A 2024 BU camper named Victoria said it was fun to participate in the classes and that the time passed quickly during three-hour sessions. A 2023 UCSD camper named Kavya noted that counselors were very nice and helpful and mentioned the sense of community and the field trips as favorite parts of camp. Former campers including Youedon Tenzin, Tommy Jiang, and Sophia Wang, all listed with Yale University, described their camp experiences as awesome, fun, and a chance to meet people from all over the country.
