About
Mass Audubon Programs & Events is part of Mass Audubon, which offers nationally recognized education programs for adults and children. The organization focuses on the loss of biodiversity, inequitable access to nature, and climate change through its programs and events.
Mass Audubon was founded in 1896 by Harriet Lawrence Hemenway and Minna B. Hall. Its mission is to protect and restore resilient landscapes, provide inclusive and equitable access to nature, mobilize to fight climate change, and protect birds and wildlife. Mass Audubon is the largest nature-based conservation organization in New England and protects 43,000 acres of land across Massachusetts. It has 110 wildlife sanctuaries and partner properties, with more than half open to be explored, and 160,000 members and supporters. Mass Audubon is committed to promoting inclusive and equitable access to nature by protecting and restoring greenspaces in urban environments, expanding and deepening environmental and career programs, and advancing the values of diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and accessibility (DEIJA) in training, recruitment, and board development activities. Mass Audubon’s work is made possible by its members, supporters, partners, volunteers, and staff. Testimonials from members, volunteers, and participants describe experiences with nature, wildlife sanctuaries, volunteering, and environmental programs across the organization.
