About
Scituate C.O.R.S.E. Foundation Programs are offered by the CORSE Foundation (Community of Resources for Special Education), which was established by a group of dedicated parents and educators. Programs are designed within a blended framework of integrated and specialized social, academic, recreation, therapeutic and work-skills development programs. Programs are staffed through customized staffing ratios and special education expertise so children with and without special needs can successfully participate together within their community. CORSE supplements 75% of all programming costs, and the organization is run entirely by unpaid volunteers, with administrative overhead at 4.9%.

The CORSE Foundation’s mission is to raise funds to provide high quality and affordable programming, training and resources that will benefit children with special needs (ages 3–22), their families and educators throughout South Shore Massachusetts. The CORSE Foundation was established by a group of dedicated parents and educators to benefit children with special needs, their families and educators throughout South Shore Massachusetts.
The organization has received multiple recognitions, including being a 2020 March WBZ Cares Featured Charity and receiving the 2016 South Shore Conservatory Community Partnership Award, the 2016 Scituate Recreation Community Spirit Award, the 2016 FOX25 Hometown Team Award, the 2015 Myra Kraft Community MVP Award from the New England Patriots, the 2011 Massachusetts Recreation and Park Association Program Outreach Award, and the 2008 Massachusetts Community Partnership Award from the Federation for Children with Special Needs. The CORSE Foundation was the primary speaker at the first Flutie Foundation Partner Summit in 2014, and its co-founders were named 2009 Scituate Citizens of the Year. GuideStar has designated CORSE a platinum-level organization. One parent shared that it was great to see the kids having fun while learning how to interact, and reported that their child began initiating and maintaining conversations with other children and speaking up in conflict situations after participating.
