About

KidStrong is a kids training program where children take part in obstacle courses, tug of war, tire flips, puzzles, games, mental challenges, and a social greeting that includes shaking hands, making eye contact, and saying their name. Classes follow a structure that includes an affirmation, social greeting, foundations, milestone, move and learn, performance, competition, and an award ceremony. The KidStrong affirmation used in class is, “I am strong, I am brave, I can do this!”

• Ages: 1–11 years old
• Schedule: Membership includes one 45-minute class per week in 45-minute, age-appropriate sessions

KidStrong’s mission is to build strong, confident, and high-character kids by focusing on a strong body, mind, and character through weekly 45-minute classes led by expert coaches. Everything in the program is based on a Whole Child Philosophy with three pillars: Strong Character, Strong Body, and Strong Mind, and the curriculum focuses on Character, Physical, and Cognitive areas. Programming is science-based and designed by child development experts, and KidStrong is guided by a group of experts, child development scientists, and coaches.

All coaches are certified, professional, highly trained, and described as specially trained, compassionate leaders. The leadership and expert team includes founders Matt and Megin Sharp; Morgan Johnson, Sr. Manager of Training & Certification; Ramon Williams, Senior Programming Specialist; Randy Nguyen, Programming Specialist; Patti Eubanks, Preschool & Kindergarten Director; Patrick Ford, Doctor of Physical Therapy; and Dr. Julie Foucher, MD, Family Physician and 4-time CrossFit Games competitor. KidStrong was founded in 2015 and has grown to more than 160 locations serving more than 65,000 kids per week, and it celebrated its 100th center opening with franchisee Barb Volk in Plantation, Florida.

Classes are described as developmentally appropriate, fun, and challenging, and are focused on progression where kids can rank up, unlock new responsibilities, and celebrate progress. Parents join class on the floor with kids under 4 years old, and the program is described as parent-focused with clean, modern centers where parents have front row seats to celebrate kids’ achievements. KidStrong also offers KidStrong Camps where kids gain lifelong friendships, learn new skills, build confidence, and create unforgettable memories. KidStrong does not provide medical services, does not accept insurance, and states that it cannot guarantee that a child will learn how to fly.

Parents have shared that the program has been “life changing” for one child who learned participation, listening, being a good teammate, and patience. Another parent reported that a daughter who has attended since July 2022 “has loved it” and is “more brave doing things that others her age might be really scared to do.” One parent shared that their child started at 16 months old and, four months in, went from being “super shy and reserved” to “having a ton of fun and going 100% in the activities,” and called KidStrong their family’s favorite part of each week. Other parents noted that their kids “have really begun to come out of their shells,” that “confidence has skyrocketed,” and that caring coaches are a key part of their child’s experience. A parent of a child with a speech delay shared that the environment motivated their child, who is now putting effort into learning words and daily skills such as cooking and cleaning.
