Dance Expressions

Dance Expressions offers recreational dance, performance group, competitive dance, and pre-professional dance. It also offers ballet, pointe, jazz, modern, tap, hip-hop, acro, and lyrical classes. Recreational dance is for students ages 18 months to adults who take one or two classes per week, and competitive dance is normally for ages 8 and older with four years of previous dance training and an emphasis in ballet.

Programs

• Recreational Dance — Students ages 18 months to adults; designed for someone who wishes to take perhaps only one or two classes per week · Encouraged to participate in the annual June performance.
• Performance Group — Students who wish to take two or more classes, one of which must be ballet · Includes community service opportunities and performance in the annual performance and varied community audiences such as parades, senior centers, sporting events, and nursing homes.
• Competitive Dance — Normally ages 8 or older · Requires 4 years of previous dance training with an emphasis in ballet; acceptance is through an audition process in the springtime; dancers compete 1 to 2 times per year.
• Pre-Professional Dance — For a dancer who wishes to pursue a dance college education and/or follow a professional dancer career; must have 8 years of dance training · For the more serious, talented and devoted dancer; requires an extensive dance curriculum as defined by the Dance Director and mentoring by her and select staff members.
• Ballet — Ages 18 months to adults
• Pointe — Ages 18 months to adults
• Jazz — Ages 18 months to adults
• Modern — Ages 18 months to adults
• Tap — Ages 18 months to adults
• Hip-Hop — Ages 18 months to adults
• Acro — Ages 18 months to adults
• Lyrical — Ages 18 months to adults

About the provider

Dance Expressions is a well established dance academy that opened in Westboro in 1995 and is celebrating its 31st year of providing dance programs. The leadership team lists Miss Laurene as director and Laurene Aldorisio as founder. Its mission is to inspire and nurture dancers to reach their fullest potential and to provide the highest level of dance training to students of all levels in a stress free dance training environment. The academy also notes highly qualified professional instructors, students who have received full scholarships at dance conventions and top awards at dance competitions, and community outreach performances in the MetroWest area.

Students are placed based on age, experience, training, skill, and maturity. Classes are available for tiny tots age 18 months to adults and seniors. Students may take one class or participate in the Dance Expressions Dance Company. Dancers receive quality technique training from September through June, with a focus on dance performance choreography in the spring.
