About

Camp Baker is a 6-week day camp that includes swimming, sports, art, two academic periods each day, daily social skills training, ropes courses, boating, and time in a floating classroom. The treatment approach is integrated into every activity during the camp day, including art, swimming, sports, social skills training, academics, and experiential learning. Children stay in the same small, age-based groups throughout the summer, and each child has individualized goals they are working toward.

• Ages: 6–12 years old
• Schedule: Camp Baker 2026 will run from July 13 to August 21, 2026, as a full 6-week day camp program
• Price: The cost of Camp Baker is $6,600 for the full 6-week program, including a 2:1 ratio of children to highly trained and qualified staff, swimming twice per day, sports and art activities, academic instruction, 21 hours of in-person parent training with childcare and food, and bus transportation to and from camp; some need-based aid is available.

Camp Baker is a summer treatment program specifically designed for children with mild to moderate symptoms of ADHD and related challenges, who may struggle in neurotypical programs. It is based on the Summer Treatment Program (STP), a thoughtful, real-world adaptation whose treatments are carefully tailored to the individual child. Camp Baker utilizes evidence-based treatments, meaning interventions proven to be effective through decades of research support. Each camper is assigned a contract counselor who reminds campers of their progress and encourages them to meet their goals each day, and goals are adjusted based on data taken throughout the program to ensure they are attainable.

The program includes daily social skills training, training in problem solving, and training in emotion identification and management. Campers are taught skills and strategies to help improve concentration, attention, and task-completion. Highly trained counselors use enthusiasm, praise, and specific intervention strategies that have been shown to work, along with consistent, predictable, and effective discipline strategies. The program includes daily check-outs about each child’s day by their counselor. Over 90% of participants report seeing a significant change in their child’s behavior.

Camp Baker has all the facilities of a top-rated summer day camp, including a large playing field for sports and group activities, a 75-foot sandy beach with swimming lanes, volleyball courts, a changing area and bathrooms, access to ropes courses, boating, and a floating classroom, one indoor air-conditioned cabin for academics and other activities, and ample shaded space. The program includes 21 hours of in-person parent training throughout the summer and school year, during which childcare and food are offered. Bus transportation to and from camp is included in the cost. Camp Baker is only accepting names on a waitlist for summer 2026.

Camp Baker is run by The Baker Center for Children and Families (also known as Judge Baker Children’s Center), whose mission is to promote the best possible mental health of children and families through the integration of research, intervention, training, and policy. The “Judge Baker Foundation” was incorporated in 1917. The Summer Treatment Program (now known as Camp Baker) was named a Model Program in Child and Family Mental Health by the American Psychological Association and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and a program of the year by Children and Adults with ADHD (CHADD), the national parent advocacy group for children with ADHD.
