About
Acera Enrichment Programs offers hands-on activities in engineering, biotechnology, math, arts, theater, design, electronics, music, chemistry, and physics. Students work on projects such as building a marble run to explore Newtonian physics and creating a podcast to synthesize research and express ideas clearly. The program also includes teamwork, forming friendships, and getting children outdoors to experience nature.
• Ages: 5–14 years old
Acera Enrichment Programs runs year-round enrichment programs that include afterschool classes, April vacation programs, and summer enrichment. Facilities for these programs include a woodshop, innovation lab, cooking zone, makerspace, science lab, and more. The program uses project-based learning, team-based learning, and a constructivist, inquiry-driven approach with hands-on building, experimenting, simulating, and discussing. Acera enrichment ensures that all students have access to learning opportunities that develop problem solving skills and creativity, lighting their fire of curiosity, and builds new interests and skills that endure.
Acera is a K–9 school serving gifted students in Greater Boston and is a member of the National Association of Gifted Children. Its mission is to enable gifted learners to become their best selves and to learn based upon ability and interests, while safeguarding the spirit and innate curiosity of each child in order to develop the next generation of innovators, scientists, and leaders for the world. Acera School welcomes all and does not discriminate against students, families, and teachers on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, marital status, religion, political beliefs, disability, gender, or sexual orientation in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, and other school administered programs.
Acera Enrichment Programs serves 600+ families in the Greater Boston area and offers an adventure-based playground. The Reed Hollett Enrichment Scholarship Fund, created in 2017, is designed to make innovative educational experiences accessible to all families. The program has a zero-tolerance policy for physical aggression or verbal and emotional harassment towards other participants and provides a designated allergen-free eating area. In order for a child to participate in Acera’s summer camp, families need to upload a physical dated within the last 18 months, immunization records, and optional allergy and medication administration plans to their CampBrain account.
The leadership team includes Courtney Dickinson, Founder and Former Head of School and Acera Board Member. Students in Acera’s programs engage in individualized learning pathways, purpose-filled projects, ability-based math classes, and engaging electives, and they take a systems view, solve problems, and think creatively.
