About

Camp EPIC offers community outings such as pool days, rollerskating, fishing, and an Orioles game, along with indoor and outdoor games. Campers take part in STEM learning with LEGOs, science experiments, and math-based games, and they also have arts and crafts time where they paint, draw, and craft. The daily schedule includes time for both structured activities and play.

• Ages: 5–11 years old
• Schedule: 7-week session from June 29 to August 14, with camp Monday–Friday and extended care options
• Price: $250 per week for Summer Camp; Extended Care $25 per week; $50 registration fee per household for Camp EPIC 2026

Camp EPIC runs Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, with optional extended care from 7:00–7:30 AM and/or 5:30–6:00 PM. Breakfast and lunch are provided, with snacks offered throughout the day. Transportation for field trips is provided using well-maintained vans and shuttles driven by background-checked, properly licensed drivers.

All staff undergo extensive background checks, and drivers have proper licensure. Camp EPIC uses electronic security with coded entries, staffed front desks, and security cameras in every classroom that are monitored at the front desk. The camp accepts childcare vouchers and offers scholarships for families who do not receive vouchers from the state. Membership and registration fees are charged per household, not per child.

Both Camp EPIC locations participate in Maryland EXCELS and are rated at an EXCELS Level 4. Camp EPIC is available at both Aberdeen and Edgewood locations. The program is described as an affordable summer camp that includes teamwork, creative problem solving, creative art experiences, hands-on project-based STEM challenges, character building, healthy living, and indoor and outdoor activities.

The EPICENTER states that its mission is to empower people, strengthen families, and build a sense of community and trust. The Aberdeen location hosts childcare, summer camp, blood drives, food giveaways, and other events. The EPICENTER and Mountain Christian Church are two separate entities that partner together, and both Mountain and EPICENTER staff work in the same building.

The EPICENTER is described as Edgewood’s Community Center and Aberdeen’s Community Center, providing resources, programs, and events. One parent, Britny Jennings, states, “I love that they hold job fairs, as well as after school activities! It’s great for the community.” Another community member, Cheryl Worthington, states that Edgewood is a strong and diverse community facing issues such as homelessness, poverty, unemployment, and career issues, and also describes it as home to caring people who show love and commitment to the community.
