Summer Enrichment Academy is part of UMBC’s Institute of Extended Learning (IXL) and offers a dynamic, hands-on program for middle school and high school students. The program includes immersive experiences that allow participants to dive deep into their interests through interactive workshops, exciting projects, and inspiring discussions led by industry experts and mentors. It is described as “Smart Fun for Middle School and High School Students.”

UMBC’s Institute of Extended Learning (IXL) provides non-credit education to connect the UMBC campus to the broader community and is dedicated to offering access and pathways to innovative academic experiences through exploration and rigorous programming. IXL promotes accessible community programming to attract new and returning students to attend UMBC through the Summer Enrichment Academy, Test Prep Academy, and year-round youth and certificate programs, with a vision to build connections through explorations, discovery, and “smart fun.” The program is supported by UMBC’s Recruitment, Enrollment, and Student Success Manager, Valerie Bardhi, and UMBC is an accredited University System of Maryland member institution.
