For 48 years, UMBC Summer Day Camp has operated a summer program that emphasizes having fun in a positive, well structured, and exciting environment, and during summer 2026 the camp will make every effort to provide a safe environment for campers, families, and staff. The camp curriculum offers a wide variety of programs to meet the interests, abilities, and needs of campers and is aimed at delivering both fun and learning opportunities for children. Camp activities invite participation, are described as fresh and interactive, and are led by staff who are described as enthusiastic and energetic, with campers well supervised during all activities and safety listed as a first priority. UMBC Summer Day Camp is operated by the UMBC Department of Athletics and Recreation and is licensed by the Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and it offers camp experiences for children within the greater Baltimore region.

One parent from the Greater Baltimore region described the camp as the best summer camp for their child Mika and shared that their children asked to always attend UMBC Camp and return the next year. Another parent from the Greater Baltimore region noted that the indoor facilities gave them one less thing to worry about regarding heat and sun exposure and said they were glad to have found the camp and recommended it to others. A third parent from the Greater Baltimore region, whose child attended for one week, reported that their son loved the camp, especially swimming twice a day, and said that everyone at the camp was very nice, organized, and helped them feel at ease leaving their young son there.
