Harford Music and Arts was started by its founder and director, Jim Ellis, in the spring of 2020. The academy was born in a virtual landscape, and as the world began to re-open, Jim Ellis added in-person theater classes in Fall 2021 and the Voices! Youth Choir in Spring 2022. Since then, the academy has continued to grow in the homeschool and traditionally schooled communities, serving over 1,000 children and adults in and around Harford County, MD. The program states that, while encouraging excellence in all of its productions, Harford Music and Arts Academy (HMAA) strives to nurture and encourage personal and artistic growth with all of its members.
