Locust Grove Nature Center Programs include environmental interpretation and environmental education programs, Native Plant Education, and Nature on Wheels traveling programs. Children and families can take part in campfire nature walks, Full Moon Fridays, In The Field: Community Science: Mothing by Moonlight, Art in Nature: Nature Journaling for Kids, Wildflower Walks: Fall Wildflower Walk, and other special events. Visitors can also spend time wandering trails, enjoying the observation deck, exploring exhibits indoors and outdoors, and doing self-guided activities in the park, and they can rent a campfire ring with a permit.

• Schedule: Nature Center Building & Nature Exploration Area open February to May and September to November, Wednesday to Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; June to August, Saturday and Sunday only, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; December to January, Saturday and Sunday only, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; outdoor park areas and trails open daily sunrise to sunset; campfire ring rentals available 7 days a week for 3 hours with a permit.

Montgomery Parks encourages and supports the participation of individuals with disabilities in these programs. The Linden Oak associated with the park was designated a bicentennial tree in 1976, and the local community approached Montgomery Parks about ways to reuse the wood of the Linden Oak tree to commemorate the tree’s life. A Fee Reduction Program is open to Montgomery County residents.
